That Will Never Work
This was one of my favorite books that I have read in quite a while, I love the startup mentality and this book was a great recap of the early years of Netflix. This book covers from launch to IPO and it provides wonderful insight in to how many ideas co-founders Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings went through before they arrived at mail-order DVD’s.
Favorite Part: The relationship between Marc and Reed. They definitely take the ‘radical honesty’ concept to the next level, but there is no denying the power of two multipliers working together to redefine an industry.
Favorite Quote: “If you’ve got the right people on you team, you don’t need to tell them exactly how you want them to do things - in fact, you don’t even need to tell them what you want them to do. You simply need to be clear about what you want to accomplish and why it’s important. If you hired the right people - smart, capable, trustworthy - they’ll figure out what needs to be done, and they’ll go ahead and do it. They’ll solve problems on their own before you even know the problems exist.”
